Hennig's professional wrestling career began on April 3, 1957, and would go on to span an impressive 29 years, with his last match taking place on January 30, 1986. Throughout that time, he wrestled for some of the biggest promotions in the business, including World Wrestling Entertainment, New Japan Pro Wrestling, All Japan Pro Wrestling, National Wrestling Alliance, and American Wrestling Association.

Known by his ring names "Larry Hennig," "Lion of the North Sea," "Pretty Boy," and "The Axe," this towering figure stood at 6 feet 1 inch tall and tipped the scales at a formidable 275 pounds. His impressive physique was matched only by his impressive in-ring skills, as he developed a versatile wrestling style that allowed him to excel in all aspects of the sport.
