Gary Richard Williams, better known to wrestling fans as Gary "The Jackal" Hart, was a larger-than-life figure in the ring. Standing at 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing in at 239 pounds, Hart cut an imposing figure that commanded attention from the moment he stepped into the squared circle.

Born on January 24, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, Hart's path to professional wrestling was anything but conventional. A product of the city's rough-and-tumble streets, Hart's early life was marked by a series of dead-end jobs and stints in reform school before he stumbled upon wrestling in the early 1960s.

Hart's first match took place on January 18, 1963, and it would be the start of a long and winding road that would see him compete under various monikers – including "Gay" Hart and "Playboy" Hart – and in a host of promotions across the United States.

Hart's rise to prominence was not without its challenges, however. A series of grueling matches and injuries left their mark on the wrestler, who would go on to win multiple championships throughout his career, including the NWA American Tag Team Championship.
